After completing this course, students will know how to:
- Identify the rules of XHTML authoring, determine which DTD is best for a given
project, create and validate a simple XHTML document, and convert existing HTML
pages to XHTML.
- Identify the significance and advantages of structured, self-descriptive
markup, define content sections with the <div> element and id attribute, apply
CSS styles to an id, and use classes to create custom elements.
- Determine the most appropriate location for a given style; define custom
default elements; control the display status of an element; write efficient CSS
code; apply borders, padding, and margins; and apply font and text styles.
- Embed an image, write effective alternative text, use background images to
create consistent and efficient design components, create intradocument links
and contextual style, provide links to essential resources, and embed Flash
movies in an XHTML document while preserving document validity.
- Define row groups, columns, and column groups; control column width and the
horizontal and vertical alignment of data in table cells; customize table
borders; and create a scrollable table.
