After completing this course, students will know how to:
  • Start applications from the Dock; display and manipulate Finder and application windows; and create and save application files.
  • Navigate among and create folders; and select, move, and copy files between folders and to and from CDs and DVDs.
  • Add items to the Dock; customize the Sidebar and toolbar; create aliases and assign labels to Finder items; find files by using the Search box and Find command; and assign applications to files by using the Get Info command.
  • Navigate Web content in Safari; and send and receive e-mail in Mail.
  • Use Mac Help to find information about specific Mac OS X tools and features; and use such tools as System Profiler and Force Quit to troubleshoot problems with your computer.
  • View image files and PDF files in Preview; organize and listen to music and other audio files in iTunes; organize and view digital photos in iPhoto; and edit and enhance video files to create movies in iMovie.
  • Customize the appearance and behavior of Finder windows; and customize the Mac OSX environment by using the System Preferences application.
  • Create and access multiple user accounts; and switch between accounts.
